NIGERIA'S Super Eagles have attracted a record-breaking capacity crowd for tonight's game against Team USA due to take place in Jacksonville, Florida in their third World Cup warm-up match.
Due to kick off at 11pm GMT or Nigerian time and 6pm local time, the match will be Super Eagles' last game before they leave the US for Brazil. On Tuesday, the team played Greece in Philadelphia in a game that ended 0-0 , following on from an earlier 2-2 draw with Scotland at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground in London.
According to US Soccer ticket sales for tonight's game have already exceeded the record of 44 438 set in Jacksonville in 2012. Nigerian diasporans in the US are expected to make up a sizeable chunk of that crowd, similar to the way they turned out in large numbers to cheer the Super Eagles against Greece on Tuesday.
A US Soccer spokesman said: "A record-breaking crowd will be on hand to send off the USA off to Brazil for the 2014 Fifa World Cup."
After today's game, the Super Eagles will head to Brazil, where they are expected to play one more friendly before their opening match against Iran in Curitiba on June 16. They then face Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina on the 21st and 25th respectively in their other two Group F games.
